Sewing marathon finish line

After many MANY late nights, I can now post the pics of the Halloween costumes. I made Melanie's costume, Isabella's hat, and Isabella's cape. Mary made Isabella's dress.

Damn, my kids are cute.

Here is the spooky ghost -

And now this sleep deprived momma can collapse!

Love, Sewing, and Halloween (Year 2)

It's October, which means I'm sewing 2 kids costumes like mad. Last year I only sewed Isabella's costume, and barely made it to the finish line. This year, I'm struggling just as much. My grand discovery is that when you only sew once a year (for Halloween), your sewing skills remain incredibly poor. Shocking, I know.

Anyway, wish me luck! And now back to the sewing table...

Word

Word. Someone just sent me this picture of my 8mo Melanie-impregnanted self. I was huge!

I like this look better. This is a pic of me a few weeks ago when I was a bridesmaid at Jeff and Nika's wedding.

I have to say, it's a relief to be on the other end of it all!!!

Hello there

Hi There. Sorry for going dark yet again! Life is just so busy and wonderful... I rarely get a chance to sit down and blog.

Here are some recently highlights of the abundant goodness that fills my life -

  • I've been hiking a ton and feel GREAT. Last week I hiked 10mi on Monday with Mel on my back (46 lb pack with Mel and gear), 6mi with her on my back on Wed, and 4.5mi with the whole family on Saturday (John carried Mel). 20miles of hiking in one week with lots of elevation gain and a heavy load. ROAR!!! Here is a self portrait of me and Mel.

  • Melanie turned 1 year old!!! She is babbling, walking, and all around a bundle of cuteness. Here are some pics from her party.

  • Isabella selling cookies and lemonade in front of our house with Luke, the boy next door. CUTE!!!

Life, as always, is so so sweet.

Deep thoughts

Last weekend I ate an entire cake by myself. That's right, by myself.

Somehow, I lost one pound.

Conclusion - hiking 15 miles a week eeez good.

5 years of wedded bliss

April 17 was John and my 5th wedding anniversary! Oh John how I love you. Let me count the ways...

I love how you are up for every challenge, and how you never complain when things get hard.

I love your thick auburn hair, your twinkling eyes, your boyish grin, and how your forehead wrinkles when said grin spreads across your face.

I love your love for the mountains, and all you have taught me about the outdoors. I love your love for campfires, summits, and having the right gear.

I love watching you be a great father, watching you wrap your arms around Isabella every day when you get home from work, and watching you sing to and cuddle Melanie when she cries.

I love how techy and handy you are at the same time, how you can be a Microsoft powerhouse by day and chop wood on the other end.

I love how creative, playful, and diverse you are. I love hearing about your experiences in performance troupes blowing fire and setting up pyrotechnics.

I love you, John, now and forever, until death do us part.
